Results of my experiments + discussion with Josef Heinen:
  • No way to build Qt5.4 on MacOS 10.6.8
  • No way to build Qt5.4 on Centos 5
  • Within 1-2 months Josef will make a major upgrade on Linux and Mac OS clusters
  • We temporarily stop our builds for JCNS
  • We will resume JCNS support in BornAgain after upgrade is done

This issue is a bizarre one. Is the BornAgain GUI still unavailable on the JCNS cluster? If yes, then this issue should have very high priority.

We must come to an agreement with our IT (Christian & Co) that they install BornAgain, and perform updates whenever we release a new version. A similar agreement works perfectly well for Frida and Slaw.

Currently on Juelich servers there is BornAgain-1.0.0 installed. The main stopper is the absence of qt5. I'll investigate perspectives for upgrade.

Installation request sent to sysadmin.

Answer from Josef Heinen 29mar16:
  • BornAgain is installed on the Macs * This seems not to include the Mac notebooks - users installing dependences via MacPorts or Homebrew deconfigure their /usr directory or configuration files
  • It's installed under CentOS 7. Under CentOS 5 and 6 not even tried because Qt 5 is missing ("time-consuming to install")

Not worth the fight - wait unless we have user contact

  • Status changed from Backlog to Rejected

I added one step to our release procedures: submit installation request to the IT issue tracker. This is all we should & can do. Therefore I close this issue.
